Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 September 2026
Sabiyo is an AI study platform operated by Smartway IT Solutions Limited (“we”, “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and share personal information when you use sabiyo.ng, the installable web app, Sabiyo on WhatsApp, and related services. It does not admit any breach, defect, or unlawful practice.
Who this covers
This policy applies to students, parents or guardians who authorise a student account, people who pay for a plan, and visitors to our public pages. If you are under 18, use Sabiyo only with a parent or guardian who accepts this policy and the Terms of Service. We do not knowingly market Sabiyo to young children, and we do not sell personal information.
Information we process
Depending on how you use Sabiyo, we may process:
- Account details you provide, such as name, email address, and a password stored only as a hash.
- Authentication data, including a session cookie, authenticator or email confirmation codes, and Google sign-in if you choose it.
- Profile details you save, such as a phone number for WhatsApp coaching, course interest, and a profile photo.
- Study activity required to operate the product: practice attempts, mocks, Daily five, notes, goals, flashcards, tutor messages, group posts, and WhatsApp coaching interactions linked to your account.
- Photos you send for the tutor to read. Marking photos are deleted within 24 hours. Profile photos remain until you remove them or the account is deleted.
- Payment references for a plan or group pack. Card details are processed by Paystack. We do not store full card numbers.
- PrepCoins balances and referral codes. PrepCoins are in-app credits, not money.
- Messages you send through Ask Sabiyo, Feedback, email, or WhatsApp support channels we operate.
- Approximate sign-in location derived from the network request, used only to understand regional usage. It is not used to block, throttle, or ban an account.
How we use information
We use this information to:
- create and secure accounts, verify email or authenticator codes, and maintain signed-in sessions;
- deliver practice, plans, groups, notifications, the AI tutor, and WhatsApp exam coaching;
- apply the limits, pricing and PrepCoins rules of the plan you selected;
- send service messages such as password resets, payment confirmations, study reminders you requested, or WhatsApp daily drills you opted into;
- provide support and maintain records of abuse reports and admin actions needed to operate the platform safely;
- keep the service reliable and understand aggregate product usage.
We do not sell your information. We do not use sign-in location to decide whether you may access Sabiyo.
Service providers
Trusted suppliers process information only as needed to run Sabiyo. They include hosting providers, email delivery, payment processing through Paystack, Google sign-in if you choose it, AI providers that generate tutor and guide replies, messaging infrastructure for WhatsApp coaching, and a licensed past-question content partner. Those suppliers act on our instructions or under their own terms when you interact with them directly (for example, Paystack checkout or a Google consent screen).
A supplier may process information outside Nigeria where required to provide the service. We do not authorise suppliers to use student information for their own advertising.
Cookies and device storage
A sign-in cookie maintains your session. Your browser may also store preferences such as theme, install-prompt dismissal, and read-aloud mute. These support product functionality. Sabiyo does not use third-party advertising cookies.
Retention
Account and study information is retained while the account remains open. Payment, security and dispute records may be retained longer where accounting, fraud prevention, or law requires it. Tutor marking photos are deleted within 24 hours. You may request account deletion. We will delete or de-identify personal information that we are not required to keep. Backup copies may take a short additional period to expire.
Your rights and requests
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, or ask us to close an account, by emailing privacy@sabiyo.ng or support@sabiyo.ng. A parent or guardian may write on behalf of a student in their care. We may verify that the request comes from the account holder. We may retain information the law permits us to keep, including payment and security records.
Security
We apply safeguards appropriate to a hosted education platform, including hashed passwords and authenticated sessions. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for unauthorised access, loss, or alteration that occurs despite those safeguards, or for incidents arising from your device, password, shared login, or WhatsApp account security.
Changes
We may update this policy by publishing a new version on this page with a revised date. Continued use of Sabiyo after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy to the extent permitted by law. The version on this page is the policy that applies.
